The group stage of the 2026 IIHF World Championship officially concluded on Tuesday, May 26, with all quarter-finalists confirmed and the playoff bracket now fully set.
Details: From Group A, the teams to secure their places in the playoffs are Switzerland men's national ice hockey team, Finland men's national ice hockey team, Latvia men's national ice hockey team and United States men's national ice hockey team.
From Group B, the quarter-finalists are Canada men's national ice hockey team, Norway men's national ice hockey team, Czech Republic men's national ice hockey team and Sweden men's national ice hockey team.
The full quarter-final matchups are now confirmed:
- Switzerland vs Sweden
- Canada vs USA
- Finland vs Czechia
- Norway vs Latvia
All quarter-final clashes will take place on Thursday, May 28, split across two time slots. Two games will begin at 16:20 CET, while the remaining two face-offs are scheduled for 20:20 CET.
As a reminder: the Swiss ice hockey world has been rocked by a sensational resignation. The country’s ice hockey federation has officially parted ways with national team head coach Patrick Fischer over a medical certificate.
