2025 AFCON Final: the Court of Arbitration for Sport sets the date for the hearing to determine the winner

The dispute over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, played on 18 January 2026, is set to reach its conclusion soon.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has set 8 October as the date for the hearing that will make a final ruling on the winner of the competition.

According to reports, this hearing will take place behind closed doors. The proceedings will focus on the appeal lodged by Senegal after it was stripped of its 2025 African Championship title by the CAF Appeals Committee, which awarded the title to Morocco.

Two scenarios are now possible. Either Morocco will be confirmed as African champions if the CAS upholds the decision taken by CAF, or the title will be restored to Senegal and CAF’s decision will be overturned.
