19 vs 1. Premier League clubs have decided to keep VAR in the league premierleague.com

Today, a meeting of English Premier League clubs took place, during which Wolverhampton's proposal to abandon the VAR system was considered.

It was officially reported that the vote failed completely. 19 clubs voted to continue using VAR, with Wolverhampton being the sole dissenter.

However, the clubs agreed that it is necessary to work on improving the functioning of VAR for the benefit of fans and teams.

For a decision to be adopted, 14 out of the 20 league clubs needed to vote in favor.

The VAR system has been used in the English Premier League since the 2019/20 season, and it was first tested in England during FA Cup matches in the 2018/19 season.

As a reminder, the top Swedish league Allsvenskan officially rejected the introduction of VAR. All 16 clubs in Allsvenskan voted against it, along with two clubs from the second division.
