On Wednesday, August 7, the final of the men's Greco-Roman wrestling in the 77 kg weight category took place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The gold medal was won by Japan's Naoya Kusaka. In the final match, the wrestler defeated Demeu Zhadrayev from Kazakhstan. The bronze medal went to Akzhol Makhmudov from Kyrgyzstan.

Japan now has 12 gold medals at the Paris Olympics, placing them sixth in the overall medal standings.

This is the first Olympic medal for the 23-year-old Kusaka. In 2023, at the World Championships in Belgrade, he won the bronze medal by defeating Aram Vardanyan from Uzbekistan in the small final.
