Today, Bayer Leverkusen became the German champions for the first time in the club's history. Previously, the club had finished second five times, narrowly missing out on the title.

This achievement marks the end of Bayern Munich's dominance, who had won the previous 11 Bundesliga titles in a row.

Here is a list of all the clubs that have been crowned champions in Germany throughout history

  • Bayern Munich - 33 times

Bayer's previous trophy was won in the distant season of 1992/93 when they claimed the DFB-Pokal. Throughout its history, the club has won just three titles: UEFA Cup in 1987/88 and the Second Bundesliga in 1978/79.

It's worth noting that Bayer Leverkusen continues to compete in all tournaments this season. In the DFB-Pokal, Xabi Alonso's team has reached the final and will face Kaiserslautern. In the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, Bayer defeated West Ham United with a score of 2-0.
