Match preview
Thomas Frank’s men are having a tough stretch - four matches without a win in 2026, including an FA Cup exit at the hands of Aston Villa. The Spurs only have the Premier League left to focus on, but even here the situation is tricky: just two wins in ten home matches and 14th place in the table.
There is a reason for optimism, though - Cristian Romero returns from suspension, Connor Gallagher is set for his debut, and Tottenham's positive record against the Hammers is a boost. In all seven of their Premier League wins this season, Spurs have kept a clean sheet - and defensive solidity could again prove decisive.
As for West Ham, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side is stuck in the relegation zone and have gone 10 straight Premier League games without a win - their worst run in nearly two decades. Even an FA Cup triumph over QPR does little to improve the mood - their defense keeps crumbling, with the Hammers failing to keep a clean sheet in 19 matches in a row.
A particular issue is defending set pieces: West Ham have conceded 12 goals from corners, the most in the league. Meanwhile, Tottenham lead the league in goals scored from corners (11), adding to Nuno’s problems. New attacking signings - Castellanos and Pablo Felipe - could freshen things up, but for now, defensive frailties outweigh any attacking positives.
Probable lineups
- Tottenham: Vicario, Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Spence, Gray, Palhinha, Simons, Gallagher, Tel, Kolo Muani
- West Ham: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Scarles, Magassa, Soucek, Bowen, Pablo, Summerville, Castellanos
Match facts and head-to-head
- Tottenham have lost just one of their last eight Premier League matches against West Ham
- West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet in 19 consecutive matches
- Spurs lead the league in goals scored from corners - 11 so far this Premier League season
Prediction
Despite both teams facing difficult circumstances, Tottenham look the more composed side in these conditions. Frank’s squad plays at home, gets a boost from returning players, and can exploit West Ham’s vulnerability at set pieces. The Hammers are unstable defensively and show no signs of recovery. We believe the home side is closer to victory here.
