The visitors can escape the crisis faster: Torino vs Udinese prediction
The sixth-round Serie A clash between Torino and Udinese will take place on Monday at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Both teams have collected four points from five matches, with the hosts still searching for their first home win, while the visitors head into the encounter on the back of three consecutive defeats.
Torino: the rebuild is proving difficult
Ignazio Abate’s side made an inconsistent start to the season, losing to Milan and Sassuolo before suffering a surprise Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Monza. A 2-1 win over Fiorentina briefly lifted the mood, but the Turin club then fell 0-2 to Roma and drew 1-1 with Bologna.
The home record is particularly concerning. Torino have lost both of their Serie A matches on home soil, despite ending last season with a six-match unbeaten run at home. On the positive side, Che Adams has returned and can once again compete for a place in attack.
Udinese: the losing streak demands a response
Kosta Runjaic’s side made a solid start, drawing with Como and beating Monza 3-2. However, three straight defeats to Lazio, Inter and Cagliari followed, sending the visitors tumbling down the table.
One of the main problems remains their performance after the break: Udinese have scored just two goals in the second halves, one of the league’s worst records. At the same time, the visitors’ squad looks strong enough, while Jurgen Ekkelenkamp is particularly dangerous away from home, where he regularly contributes to attacking moves.
Match facts and head-to-head record
- Torino have lost both of their Serie A home matches this season.
- Udinese have lost their last three league matches.
- Udinese won both meetings with Torino last season.
A more balanced squad gives the visitors the edge: Torino vs Udinese prediction
Neither team is in particularly good shape, so this match is unlikely to be one-sided. Torino will have home advantage, but Abate’s team has looked especially unconvincing on its own turf so far.
Udinese are also going through a slump, but the visitors have greater cohesion and more resources to turn the situation around. If Runjaic’s side can improve after the break and make better use of its chances, it could take all three points back from Turin.
