On July 4, Skonto stadions (Riga) will host the match of the 21st round of the Optibet Virsliga of Latvia, in which RFS will compete with Jelgava. The battle will start at 16:30 CET.

The club has a not entirely unique, but rather interesting, albeit short (it was founded in 2011) history. Even taking into account the name, it is clear that the project was launched as a team of the capital football academy. Jelgava

The team was actually created anew in place of its predecessor, which took the Latvian Cup four times and was a silver medallist in 2016. Moreover, it demonstrated a relatively good performance, as for the Baltic countries, at the European arena. Then it was not possible to pass the licensing and the glorious club was disbanded, by the way, it was quickly “reassembled”, fortunately, not “from scratch”, in 2021. The new project (with the prefix “FS”, which is an obvious formality) was able to win in the previous 1. Liga tournament. Speaking about the higher level, it is more difficult for a beginner and, as a result, it is fighting for survival. It goes without saying that half-dead Super Nova will leave the division. The 9th place promises a play-off for survival and Jelgava, which is characterized by modest statistics, is one of several “applicants”. For instance, the team was not able to beat the direct competitor – it limited itself by a 1-1 draw in the battle against Daugavpils.
