On Saturday, Aston Villa will host Everton at Villa Park in the fourth round of the Premier League. Here’s a prediction from the Dailysports team.

Aston Villa

Last season, Aston Villa impressed by finishing in fourth place, securing a coveted spot in the Champions League. The Birmingham side made serious preparations for their European debut, strengthening their squad with players like Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana.

Unai Emery’s team started the new Premier League season in good form. They secured three points in their opener by beating West Ham 2-1 in London. Although they suffered a 0-2 defeat to Arsenal, they bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Leicester before the international break. Villa currently sit seventh in the table with six points from three matches.

Everton

Everton has been battling relegation in recent seasons and last year was particularly tough, as they were docked eight points for breaching financial fair play rules. Despite this, they managed to recover and finish 15th.

Hopes were high that under Sean Dyche, Everton could finally stabilize and settle in mid-table. However, their start to the new season has been disastrous. The Toffees have lost all three of their opening league matches—0-3 to Brighton, 0-4 to Tottenham, and 2-3 to Bournemouth, despite leading 2-0 until the 87th minute. In the EFL Cup, however, Everton managed a 3-0 win over Doncaster.

Interesting Facts and Head-to-Head History

  • Last season, Aston Villa thrashed Everton 4-0 at Villa Park.
  • Everton knocked Aston Villa out of the EFL Cup last season.
  • The "Both Teams to Score" bet has only hit in two of the last five meetings.
