Netherlands vs Lithuania prediction, H2H and probable lineups – 17 November 2025
One of the fixtures of Matchday 10 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will take place on Monday at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, where the Netherlands will host Lithuania. Here’s my betting tip for this encounter.
Match preview
In the previous round, the Netherlands drew with Poland, a result that virtually secured their place at the World Cup. For Ronald Koeman’s side to miss out now, they would need to suffer a catastrophic defeat against Lithuania—something that’s frankly unimaginable.
This clash against Lithuania is likely to serve as more of a training exercise, giving Koeman the opportunity to rotate his squad and offer minutes to fringe players. After this match, the Netherlands will officially book their ticket to the World Cup.
Lithuania, meanwhile, have nothing left to play for except trying to avoid finishing bottom of the group, having been overtaken by Malta. To leapfrog the Maltese, Lithuania would need to beat the Netherlands—a near-impossible task.
In the reverse fixture, Lithuania put up a respectable fight, narrowly losing 2-3. Notably, Edgaras Jankauskas’ men scored twice late in the first half. However, repeating that kind of performance in Amsterdam will be an uphill battle.
Match facts and head-to-head
- The Netherlands are unbeaten in their last eleven matches.
- The Netherlands have scored first in six of their last seven games.
- Lithuania, for their part, are on a sixteen-match winless streak.
- These teams have met only once before—on that occasion, the Netherlands claimed a 3-2 victory.
Probable lineups
- Netherlands: Verbruggen – Geertruida, Timber, van Dijk, van de Ven – Gravenberch, de Jong, Kluivert – Malen, Gakpo, Depay
- Lithuania: Švedkauskas – Upstas, Armalas, Tutyškinas, Utkus, Lasickas – Kalinauskas, Gineitis, Sirgėdas, Ćernych – Golubickas
Prediction
While I do expect a Dutch victory, I don’t see them running up the score. Lithuania will likely focus on defending deep and playing as compact as possible. The match could unfold similarly to the reverse fixture, when the Netherlands netted only three times. My prediction: Netherlands individual total under 4.5 goals.
