Latvia: two wins in 14 matches and a disappointing start
Latvia kept their place in League C only thanks to a playoff victory over Gibraltar, winning both legs 1-0. Those results remain the team's only wins in their last 14 matches — a run that also includes five draws and seven defeats.
In the opening round, Paolo Nicolato's side were barely able to compete with Armenia and lost 0-2. After that performance, the coaching staff could make changes to the starting lineup, with Roberts Uldriķis, Maksims Toņiševs and Oskars Višņēvics all in contention to start.
Cyprus: late defeat after a strong spell
Cyprus started the tournament with far greater confidence and even took the lead against Montenegro through a goal from Marcus Edwards. However, the opposition responded with goals from Nikola Krstović and Milutin Osmajić to snatch a 2-1 victory.
This was the national team's first defeat since March 2026. Before that, Apostolos Mantzios' side had gone unbeaten in three friendlies, recording two wins and one draw. Cyprus also look more dangerous in attack thanks to Edwards, Ioannis Pittas and Marinos Tzionis.
