Over the past fifty years, since the early 1970s, the team has only managed to reach La Liga once. That was in the 2014/2015 season, which ended with a 20th place finish—dead last. Afterwards, they even dropped as low as the fourth division. However, they didn’t linger there for long; last season, they finished second in their group in the third tier and then won the promotion playoffs.
This first season back in the Segunda after a long absence has been an undeniable success for the club. Not only did they secure their place at this level, but thanks to a strong run in the spring, they still have a shot at the playoff spots. That said, a defeat to Burgos put an end to any real hopes of fighting for promotion.
Mirandes
The club managed to establish itself in the Segunda on their second attempt. Returning after a two-year absence in 2019, they've now survived four straight seasons by collecting enough points to stay up. Still, last spring they finished just above the relegation zone in 18th place—right on the edge.
Nevertheless, Alessio Lisci kept his job and has justified the trust placed in him by sparking a dramatic turnaround this season. Their hopes took a hit during a poor run in the spring, losing three out of four matches and picking up just one point. But since then, they've managed to defeat Burgos, Eibar, and, in the last round, Castellon.
