Wrexham: the breakthrough performance has changed the mood
Wrexham's start was solid rather than spectacular. They opened their Championship campaign with 1-1 draws against Cardiff City and Watford before losing 2-1 at home to Birmingham City. However, Parkinson's team then produced their most convincing league performance of the season, sweeping Millwall aside 3-0 at The Den. Kieffer Moore scored the second, Jacques Ekomie added the third, and Wrexham finally turned encouraging spells of football into a complete result.
The structure of the side also looks increasingly settled. There are still personnel issues. George Thomason suffered a thigh injury and Parkinson confirmed that he is expected to miss around ten weeks, while Liberato Cacace had also not fully recovered. The timing made the additions of Ekomie and Kaboré particularly important. Burnley: plenty of quality, but Hayen is still building his team
Burnley entered the season following relegation from the Premier League and a major change on the bench. Scott Parker departed in April, and Nicky Hayen was appointed head coach in July after arriving from Genk. The Belgian inherited a squad with clear promotion ambitions, but the opening weeks have shown that the rebuilding process is far from complete.

A 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough brought only their second point in four rounds. There has also been significant movement in attack. Zian Flemming, who had already scored three times in all competitions this season, left for Ipswich on deadline day. Burnley responded by adding Largie Ramazani and Reo Hatate, while Igor Julio strengthened the defensive options. The second half against Middlesbrough offered signs of what Hayen wants. Ugo Raghouber equalised after the break, while the introduction of Ramazani added more energy and width. However, Burnley still need to show that intensity over a full 90 minutes rather than in isolated spells.

Wrexham look more settled tactically. Parkinson knows exactly how he wants his team to play, Moore gives them a reliable reference point in attack, and Kaboré and Ekomie have added pace and energy on the flanks. The convincing display at Millwall was also evidence that the Red Dragons can punish teams when they are given space to attack in transition.
Burnley's individual quality makes a straight home victory too aggressive, especially with Hatate, Ramazani and Pires increasing Hayen's options. Nevertheless, Wrexham currently appear the more coherent side, and playing at the Racecourse Ground should give them another advantage.
