Can Como slow down the leaders? Como vs Roma prediction – 11.10.2026
On Sunday, October 11, Como will host Roma at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in the sixth round of Serie A. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 CEST. The international break has divided the opening part of the campaign, and the teams return to league action with Roma sitting top of the table and Como only three points behind.
Como: an impressive start despite the setback in Frosinone
Cesc Fàbregas' team have once again demonstrated that last season's progress was no accident. Como have collected ten points from their first five league matches, with three wins, one draw and one defeat, scoring nine goals and conceding six.
Their results have already included an impressive 2-1 away victory over Napoli, a dominant 4-1 win at Genoa and a 2-1 home success against Parma. The only serious setback came immediately before the international break, when Como were beaten 2-0 by Frosinone despite creating several opportunities.
Fàbregas continues to rely on a proactive 4-2-3-1 system built around technical quality in midfield and aggressive movement between the lines. Nico Paz remains one of the central figures in possession, while Martin Baturina has made an excellent start to the Serie A season with two goals and one assist in five appearances. Assane Diao gives the team pace from wide areas, while Tasos Douvikas and Moise Kean provide different options at centre-forward.
Como's latest official league squad included all of Paz, Diao, Baturina, Douvikas and Kean, as well as new arrivals Yan Couto, Trevoh Chalobah and Samuele Ricci. The official squad for the Roma match has not yet been announced, so any starting eleven at this stage remains provisional.
Roma: Gasperini's leaders have found goals everywhere
Roma arrive at the Sinigaglia as Serie A leaders. Gian Piero Gasperini's side have taken 13 points from five matches, winning four and drawing one, while producing an outstanding 14-3 goal difference.
The Giallorossi started with four consecutive league victories before drawing 2-2 with Inter. Even that match demonstrated both sides of Roma's current identity: Gasperini's men went 2-0 ahead through a Manu Koné brace and created further chances, but could not protect their advantage after the break.
Donyell Malen has been the outstanding attacking figure. The Dutch forward has scored six times in five Serie A appearances and currently leads the league scoring chart. Behind him, Paulo Dybala and Matías Soulé give Roma creativity between the lines, while Koné and Bryan Cristante provide the intensity Gasperini demands in midfield.
Roma's most recent Serie A squad contained Malen, Dybala, Soulé, Koné and Lorenzo Pellegrini, with Santiago Castro another option in attack. Gasperini remains firmly in charge, and his preferred 3-4-2-1 has already become clearly recognizable.
Possible lineups
Based on the teams' latest Serie A selections:
- Como: Butez – Couto, Chalobah, Ramon, Valle – Da Cunha, Milla – Diao, Nico Paz, Baturina – Douvikas.
- Roma: Svilar – Mancini, Balerdi, Hermoso – Molina, Cristante, Koné, Wesley – Dybala, Soulé – Malen.
Key facts and head-to-head trends
- Roma are unbeaten after five Serie A matches, with four wins and one draw.
- Gasperini's team have scored at least two goals in every league match this season.
- Four of Roma's first five Serie A games have produced at least three goals.
- Three of Como's five league matches have also finished with over 2.5 goals.
- Como have scored nine goals in five rounds despite drawing a blank against Frosinone.
- The previous Serie A meeting at the Sinigaglia ended in a 2-1 victory for Como in March 2026.
Both teams have enough attacking quality to turn this into an open contest
Picking the winner is far from straightforward. Roma have been the more consistent team and their attacking numbers are outstanding, but Como have already shown they are capable of competing with stronger opponents and are particularly difficult to control at the Sinigaglia.
The more attractive angle is the number of goals. Roma have scored 14 times in only five league games and have found the net at least twice in every round. Como, meanwhile, have enough technical quality through Paz, Baturina and Diao to create problems for Gasperini's aggressive defensive structure, while Fàbregas' own approach rarely involves simply sitting deep for 90 minutes.
With both coaches favouring proactive football, Roma carrying the league's most productive early-season attack and Como possessing enough quality to respond at home, there should be opportunities at both ends. Three goals looks like a realistic threshold for this encounter.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals.
