The first round La Liga clash between Celta and Osasuna will finally take place on August 27th in Vigo. Originally, the teams were scheduled to meet on August 16th, but the match was postponed due to pitch issues at Balaídos caused by a fungal infection. The new date is Thursday, August 27th, with kickoff at 20:30 Central European Time. Here’s my pick for the winner of this game.

Cautious optimism ahead of the European campaign
Celta went through their summer preparations unbeaten, which in itself is a strong indicator of Claudio Giráldez’s team’s physical and tactical readiness. In pre-season, the Galicians drew 2-2 with Braga, edged Sporting Gijón 1-0, and shared the spoils with Academico Viseu in a 2-2 draw. In Italy, they put on a real goal-fest against Sassuolo, crushing their opponents 4-1, and wrapped up pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Napoli.
The standout in pre-season was young forward Hugo González. Against Sassuolo, he notched a rapid hat-trick, and throughout the summer, he found the net with impressive regularity. His stellar form earned him a permanent spot in the first team, one of the major positives for Celta’s summer campaign.
In the transfer market, Celta opted for targeted reinforcement rather than a full overhaul.
