A major sensation occurred at the ATP250 tournament in Munich. The top-seeded player, Alexander Zverev, was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

The 26-year-old German tennis player, ranked fifth in the ATP world rankings, suffered a surprising defeat against the 106th-ranked player in the world, Chilean Christian Garin.

Throughout the match, Garin didn't drop a single game on his own serve against his more renowned opponent. In both sets, the 27-year-old Chilean secured a break point each and won with an identical scoreline of 6-4.

Over the past two years, Zverev has now lost for the third time to an opponent outside the top 100 in the world rankings.

Garin held the 17th position in the ATP rankings in 2021, but since then, his results have sharply declined. Since 2022, he hasn't risen above the 82nd position.

In the semifinals, Garin will face American Taylor Fritz.
