Universidad Católica earned its first away win of the 2025 Primera División season with a 2-1 victory over Unión Española, a result that lifted the team into the top tier of the standings with a game in hand against Colo Colo. But attention now shifts to the Copa Chile Coca Cola Sin Azúcar, where a loss on Thursday could mean elimination. These concerns were raised by midfielder Fernando Zuqui in a press conference, as reported by TNT Sports Chile.
“We need to improve in many areas. Physically we feel good, but we need to be more focused in the final minutes,” said the Argentine. “We have to hold on to leads and be more consistent if we want to keep pushing forward.”
Zuqui also highlighted the growing partnership with fellow midfielder Alfred Canales. “We’re getting to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Alfred is a very good player and we’re working well together,” he added.
Universidad Católica will visit San Luis on Thursday, April 3, for a crucial Matchday 5 fixture in the Copa Chile. A loss in Quillota would see them crash out of the tournament.
