According to recent reports, Egyptian club Zamalek current coach Jose Gomes has emerged as a potential candidate to take charge of Saudi Arabia's Al-Etifaq should current boss Steven Gerrard leave with Sources claiming Al-Etifaq officials are seriously considering that Gerrard will be sacked for the team's recent poor performance .
Besides Gomes on the shortlist, there are several names, including Pedro Emmanuel, who previously coached Al Khaleej and Al Nasr. Another notable is Chile coach Jose Luis Sierra, a former boss of Al-Ittihad, Al-Wehda and Al-Tai, although he is considered second-rate.
Currently 11th in the Saudi Pro League with 11 points from nine games, Al Ettifaq’s exit from the Kings Cup in the round of 16 suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at second division club Al Jabalain yesterday.
