According to Egyptian media, Zamalek SC made a daring attempt to begin their summer transfer preparations by pursuing two important players from their longtime rivals Al Ahly.

The Confederation Cup winners are looking to capitalize on the impending contract expirations of goalkeeper Hamza Alaa and midfielder Karim Nedved, both set to become free agents on June 30.

Hamza Alaa: Seeking a Fresh Start

At just 24 years old, Alaa has struggled for game time behind Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir, managing only two senior appearances, in which he conceded once and kept one clean sheet. A move to Zamalek could offer him a genuine opportunity to fight for a starting role.

Karim Nedved: Experience Up for Grabs

Nedved, a 27-year-old with 94 appearances for Al Ahly, has demonstrated experience by contributing two assists and seven goals. Under coach José Peseiro, Nedved, who was well-known for his adaptability and work ethic, would bring depth and originality to Zamalek's midfield reconstruction.

Zamalek are reportedly pushing hard to seal both signings in the coming days, aiming to strike early in the window and gain an edge ahead of the 2024–25 campaign.

If successful, the moves would mark a major statement in Egypt’s fiercest football rivalry—and signal Zamalek’s intent to strengthen from within enemy lines.
