Zamalek SC have reportedly pulled the brakes on their pursuit of Tanzanian sensation Clément Mzize, despite earlier talks to bring the Young Africans striker to Cairo during the summer transfer window.

According to Kooora, the Egyptian giants had initiated direct discussions with Mzize, who was said to be open to a move pending a final agreement between the two clubs. But two major stumbling blocks have put the deal on hold.

Price Too High?

Young Africans are believed to have demanded around $2 million for the 21-year-old striker — a figure that Zamalek's board considers excessive given their current financial strategy.

Agent Maze Slows Down Progress

The negotiations were further complicated by the involvement of multiple agents, which created disagreements and delays over contractual and commission-related terms.

Mzize’s Season in Numbers

  • 24 appearances
  • 7 goals
  • 0 assists
  • 1,050 minutes played

Despite the breakdown in talks with Zamalek, Mzize remains a hot commodity. Regional clubs like Al-Ahly Tripoli (Libya) and JS Kabylie (Algeria) are closely monitoring his situation and could swoop in this summer.

As they restructure their team for the 2024–25 season, Zamalek seems to have turned their attention to other attacking targets for the time being, particularly in light of recent domestic defeats.
