Zamalek Set to Lift Transfer Ban After Settling Yaser Hamed Dispute
Zamalek SC, under the leadership of president Hussein Labib, has officially settled its financial dispute with former Palestinian defender Yaser Hamed, paving the way to lift the FIFA-imposed transfer ban.
Board member Amr Adham confirmed that the club paid EGP 1.7 million to Hamed on Sunday, and the player has acknowledged receipt of the full amount.
FIFA to Be Notified for Transfer Clearance
Adham revealed that the club'll formally notify FIFA to begin the process of removing the transfer ban, making Zamalek eligible to register new players in the upcoming transfer window.
A Series of Financial Clean Ups
This move is part of a broader financial recovery plan by the current board. Adham outlined other key payments recently completed:
- €1 million to former head coach Jaime Pacheco
- $983,000 to former striker Khalid Boutaib
"We've taken serious steps to resolve all major legal and financial cases," Adham stated.
What This Means for Zamalek
With the registration ban nearly lifted, Zamalek can now:
- Enter the summer transfer market
- Register new domestic and foreign signings
- Rebuild the squad after recent departures
This comes at a crucial time as the club looks to bounce back competitively and build on its CAF Confederation Cup final appearance.
