Zamalek SC files claim against grievance decisionnce decision
The Egyptian club Zamalek issued an official statement regarding their summit match with Al Ahly SC.
Zamalek SC's board of directors, led by Hussein Labib, has officially announced plans to challenge the Egyptian Football Association's (EFA) Appeals Committee decision regarding the abandoned Cairo Derby. The club will file an urgent appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to demand full implementation of regulations.
The dispute centers on what Zamalek describes as a "complete match abandonment" incident during their high-profile clash with Al Ahly. Club officials argue they're entitled to both:
A 3-point deduction against the opposing team for abandonment
An additional 3-point award via 3-0 default victory
This move comes after Thursday's controversial EFA Appeals Committee ruling that modified earlier disciplinary decisions regarding the derby. Zamalek's statement accuses football authorities of violating "all principles of justice, equality, fair opportunity, and sporting integrity."
The White Knights are pursuing what could become a landmark CAS case in Egyptian football, insisting on strict application of competition rules regarding match abandonments.
