Zadok Yohanna ruled out of Nigeria Unity Cup squad after AIK blocks release

Nigerian winger Zadok Abu Yohanna will miss the Super Eagles’ 2026 Unity Cup campaign in London after Swedish club AIK Football decided not to release him for international duty.

AIK confirmed that the youngster is still in the final stage of his rehabilitation and is not yet fully ready to return to competitive football. After reviewing his condition, the club opted to keep him in Sweden to complete his recovery program.

The Swedish side also stressed Yohanna’s growing importance to their squad, describing him as a key player in their sporting plans. According to the club, this role also influenced their decision to withhold his release during a busy period.

The Unity Cup is scheduled to take place in London from May 26 to May 30, 2026.
