Yvan Kenmoe relishes Cameroon’s UNIFFAC U20 triumph and is already looking ahead to the U20 AFCON
Crowned champions following their 1–0 victory over the Central African Republic in the final on Saturday 24 October in Yaoundé, the Indomitable U20 Lions have, according to their manager, achieved the two objectives set before the competition: winning the trophy and securing qualification for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following this triumph, Cameroon U20 manager Yvan Kenmoe made no secret of his satisfaction, recalling the ambitions his team had set out with before the start of the tournament.
“We can only be satisfied. We prepared for the competition with a clear objective: to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations and to be UNIFFAC champions. We are delighted and will now turn our attention to preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations,” said Yvan Kenmoe.
The young Cameroonians enjoyed a flawless run in this competition held in Yaoundé. In four matches, they recorded four wins, demonstrating their consistency right through to the final, which they won against the Central African Republic thanks to a free-kick goal from Jean François Manguele.
As well as winning the sub-regional title, the U20 Indomitable Lions have, above all, secured their place at the African Nations Cup for their age group, scheduled to take place in Ghana in 2027.
