"Yes, I'm a hypocrite." Motorsport star Sebastian Vettel speaks candidly about his eco-activism

Formula 1 star Sebastian Vettel has long been known for his attention to environmental issues. However, as a racing driver who only recently ended his career, he faces accusations of hypocrisy. Vettel acknowledges this issue, sharing his perspective in the Tages-Anzeiger magazine.
The German accepts the accusations, calling himself a hypocrite because he has negatively impacted the environment for many years, and now speaks about ecological issues. Indeed, motorsports cannot be called an environmentally friendly sport, and in the past, he frequently flew around the world on airplanes, also negatively impacting the environment.
"We are all hypocrites because we enjoy things that we know aren't quite right. Do we really need to fly to Thailand for a vacation? No. But it's incredibly beautiful there too. We shouldn't ban trips; instead, we should offer technological solutions that allow us to do the same things as before, but more sustainably," Vettel stated.
The former athlete also added that he wants to change these things and, above all, raise awareness about them among children.
