Yemisi Akintoye Selected by CAF to Officiate at WAFCON 2026

Nigerian referee Yemisi Akintoye has received a major career boost after being named among the match officials for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The appointment comes after Akintoye successfully completed CAF's mandatory fitness, medical and technical evaluations, earning her place on the officiating team for the continental tournament.

Having obtained her FIFA referee badge in 2021, the Nigerian official continues to rise through the ranks, with WAFCON 2026 set to be her first appearance at Africa's premier women's football championship.

WAFCON 2026 is scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 26 to August 16.
