Yaya Touré is reportedly set to take over as head coach of Slovan Bratislava after reaching an agreement in principle with the Slovakian champions, bringing an end to his long wait for a top managerial role.

The former Manchester City midfield star is understood to have agreed terms with the club, although an official announcement is yet to be made. If finalised, this would mark his first senior head coaching position in professional football.

Slovan Bratislava, who recently continued their domestic dominance with another Slovak First Football League title in the 2025/2026 season, are expected to appoint Touré as part of their plans to maintain their stronghold in Slovak football while adding fresh leadership to the dugout.

Touré’s potential arrival comes after a decorated playing career at the highest level of European football. He represented elite clubs such as FC Barcelona and AS Monaco, alongside his iconic spell at Manchester City.

During his playing days, the 43-year-old won multiple league titles, domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League, and played a key role in transforming Manchester City into one of England’s dominant forces.
