Yan Diomande discusses his future at RB Leipzig
The Ivorian striker has cast a slight shadow of uncertainty over his future with the German club.
Yan Diomande is one of the major attractions of the summer transfer window. His performances in the German Bundesliga have attracted interest from the top European leagues. As he prepares for the World Cup with the Ivory Coast, Yan Diomande was evasive about his future in an interview with The Athletic.
The World Cup is coming up, and after that, you never know what might happen.
Beyond the speculation surrounding his future, the Ivorian international highlighted the personal support he receives from Leipzig. He was keen to thank the German club for the support he has received since his arrival. Aware of the expectations placed on him since his transfer, estimated at €20 million, Yan Diomande says he wants to deliver on the pitch and continue to improve.
I’ll never forget that. It’s not just about playing football. Most people only see what happens on the pitch, but the club has helped me so much with my family and my mum. For young lads like me, a lot goes on, but nobody knows about it apart from the club. They’ve done so much for me, I’m grateful to them and all I can do is help them on the pitch. It’s a huge motivation to repay them for what they’ve invested in me €20 million is a big risk, but it’s not over yet; we have to keep working hard.
