Tonight at the Apex arena in Las Vegas, USA, the penultimate event of this year's UFC Fight Night 233 will take place.
The main event features a non-title bout in the bantamweight division between China's Song Yadong (20-7-1) and American Chris Gutierrez (20-5-2).
Yadong has been in the UFC since 2017, commencing his career with an undefeated streak of six fights, securing five wins before suffering a defeat to Kyler Phillips in 2021. Subsequently, he claimed three more victories and encountered his first career main event, ending in a loss to Cory Sandhagen in September 2022. In April of this year, he returned with a win over Ricky Simon, stopping him in the 5th round at UFC on ESPN 45.
The 32-year-old Gutierrez debuted in the UFC in 2018, starting with a loss to Raoni Barcelos. Following this, Chris secured 7 wins, ended another fight in a draw, and suffered a second loss against Pedro Munhoz by decision in April of the current year. Recently, at a promotion event on October 14, the American rebounded from the setback with a victory over Hayley Alateng by judges' decision.
Both headline fighters in the upcoming show are ranked in the top 15 of the bantamweight division: Yadong holds the seventh position, while Gutierrez stands at fourteenth.
