Xabi Alonso shows Chelsea defender the door
The door at Stamford Bridge is effectively closed for Axel Disasi.
Details: According to talkSPORT, Chelsea’s new head coach Xabi Alonso has deemed the 28-year-old French defender surplus to requirements. The player is expected to leave the London club this summer.
Disasi has not joined his teammates for pre-season training. Currently, the player’s representatives and Chelsea management are working together to find him a new club.
The Londoners value the Frenchman at around £25 million. This means Chelsea could take a hit of about £13 million, having signed the defender from Monaco for £38 million in the summer of 2023.
Roma and Milan are reportedly interested in the player. Previously, Disasi also had loan spells at Aston Villa and West Ham, but he never managed to secure a regular spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup.
It’s worth noting that during his loan at West Ham, the Frenchman played 17 matches across all competitions and scored one goal.
