Xabi Alonso has imposed numerous rules on Real Madrid players, and not everyone is happy about it
Xabi Alonso took charge of Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, and it appears that some players’ entourages are not entirely pleased with the new coach’s stricter approach.
Details: According to journalist Romain Molina, when Ancelotti was in charge, some players would fly to Ibiza after matches instead of returning to Madrid. They could skip training sessions and basically do whatever they wanted.
Those same players reportedly tried to pull off similar behavior under Alonso — but it didn’t work this time. That’s what angered some members of the players’ entourages, who believe Alonso is interfering too much in the players’ personal affairs.
It was also previously reported that the game against Rayo raised questions about Xabi Alonso’s tactical approach. The team’s form has dipped in recent weeks, and both the match at Anfield and the draw with Rayo have reportedly caused concern among the club’s hierarchy.
Reminder: Real Madrid’s management believes Xabi Alonso has struggled this season and has treated Vinícius unfairly.
