Wydad Coach Rulani Mokwena Under Pressure to Deliver Results
Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena held a crucial meeting with the club’s board this week following a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Mas Fes, which saw the team drop to sixth in the league standings. With just six wins in their opening 16 games, Mokwena’s position has come under review.
During the meeting, the board reviewed the team's recent performances and defined expectations for enhancement. Mokwena showed his dedication to the club, expressing his passion for the project and his resolve to improve the current situation.
Nonetheless, the board suggested modifications, including the possible hiring of a Moroccan assistant coach and performance analyst to assist Mokwena. He has been given a month to achieve better results, with clear objectives established for the next four league matches, starting with an important game against relegation-threatened MA Tétouan.
In order to strengthen the team, the club also talked about transfer plans. Lebo Mothiba, a striker for Bafana Bafana, is being evaluated as a possible addition.
Mokwena will have to work hard in the upcoming weeks to get Wydad back to his previous level of play and live up to the high standards set by the club's supporters and management.
