Wow! Star Brazilian footballer refuses to travel to Moscow out of respect for Ukraine
Former Shakhtar Donetsk star Jadson has made a powerful gesture of respect towards Ukraine, refusing to travel to Russia for a farewell football match.
Details: Earlier, Moscow's CSKA announced that the Brazilian midfielder would take part in a farewell match for former striker Vagner Love, scheduled for September 26 in Moscow. Jadson was included in the list of invited players, but the footballer himself has now clarified the situation. In an exclusive interview with Tribuna.com, he confirmed that he would not travel to the Russian capital.
Jadson explained that although Vagner Love is a close friend, he understands why accepting the invitation would be inappropriate in the current circumstances.
“I will not go to the match my friend Vagner Love invited me to. I understand that I should not go out of respect for the Ukrainian people and the club I love, Shakhtar. Vagner Love is a great friend, but I understand that the situation is much more delicate now,” Jadson told Ua.Tribuna.com.
It is worth noting that Jadson previously expressed his support for Ukraine at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. In a video message, the Brazilian recalled the seven and a half years he spent living alongside Ukrainians and expressed his admiration for their resilience. During his time at Shakhtar, Jadson also scored the winning goal against Werder Bremen in the 2009 UEFA Cup final.
