World No. 17 Holger Rune has been forced to withdraw from the Paris Olympics due to wrist issues.

"I’m very sorry that I won’t be able to play at the Olympics. It’s something I was really looking forward to, to play and be a part of it. I’ve been playing with wrist pain throughout the season, both on clay and grass, so I need to take the doctors' recommendations seriously.

I’ll be following the Olympics from home and cheering for all the Danish athletes, and I hope and believe that we can bring home many medals from Paris," Rune wrote on social media.

It’s worth noting that the Danish tennis player had previously withdrawn from clay tournaments in Umag (Croatia) and Hamburg (Germany) also due to health issues.

Additionally, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will also miss the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The Italian tennis player made this decision due to tonsillitis.

The tennis tournament at the Olympic Games will start on July 27, with the men's singles final set for August 4.
