The former WBC World Champion in the lightest weight division, Go Shindo (16-4, 11 KOs), who had taken the break after undergoing gender reassignment surgery in 2017, made a return to the ring this Sunday, December 10, as reported by Fightnews.

Go Hashimoto, as he is now known, faced off against Katsuyuki Ishibashi and lost by unanimous decision, 29-27, in this semi-official test match consisting of 3 rounds of 3 minutes each. Since this was a semi-official test match, the results will not be counted in the official records. According to representatives of the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC), Hashimoto entered the ring to obtain a boxing license for male competition. The committee is currently reviewing this matter.

The former WBC World Champion in the lightest weight division, Go Shindo (real name Megumi Hashimoto), stated that he will undergo gender reassignment surgery and return to the ring, but this time in men's boxing.

The Japanese athlete aims to achieve championship status not only in women's boxing but also in men's boxing, a feat that no one has accomplished before. Go Shindo has had 19 professional bouts, securing 16 victories, including three by knockout.
