William Troost-Ekong Calls AFCON His Proudest Career Moment
Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has described playing at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the proudest moment of his football career, highlighting the tournament’s unique atmosphere and significance.
Speaking as an analyst on beIN SPORTS, Troost-Ekong reflected on Nigeria’s journey at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, describing the competition as more than just football.
“It was an amazing experience. AFCON is like a celebration of the entire continent—a true football festival featuring some of the best players from leagues around the world,” he said.
The defender went on to emphasize how special it felt to represent Nigeria on such a stage.
“One of the proudest moments of my career, especially internationally, was playing for Nigeria at AFCON. Even though it didn’t end the way we wanted, it remains an experience I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life,” he added.
