Will we see the legend on the pitch again? New details of David Alaba's recovery revealed Christian Hofer/Getty Images

New details have emerged regarding the recovery of Real Madrid defender David Alaba.

Earlier reports indicated that there was a risk Alaba might be forced to retire, but the situation is not as dire as initially thought.

Details: According to Marca, the Austrian defender's recovery is progressing as planned. He is now entering the final stages of his rehabilitation and has started individual training.

Once Alaba rejoins the main group, he will be given 2-3 weeks to regain his match fitness before being included in the squad for a game. The club hopes this day will come as soon as possible.

Recall: the Austrian defender has been sidelined since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in December of last year. It has been nearly 11 months since then, during which he has faced several setbacks during his recovery phase.
