Will they pay €20 million? Inter target Nigeria goalkeeper
Inter are considering a change in goal and have already begun assessing potential candidates. According to Calciomercato.it, Josep Martínez’s future at the Milan club has come under scrutiny after several mistakes at the start of the season. The Spaniard provided his latest cause for criticism on Tuesday in the Champions League clash against Club Brugge.
Despite the doubts, head coach Cristian Chivu continues to trust Martínez for now. However, the upcoming matches could influence the distribution of roles among the goalkeepers. The Spaniard is at risk of losing his place in the starting lineup, while Ivan Provedel could challenge him after joining Inter from Lazio in the summer, although he has yet to make an appearance.
According to the source, the Milan side are also considering Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye. The Nigeria international is on the list of possible options should changes be made to Inter’s goalkeeping department.
It should be added that Udinese value Okoye at around €20 million. The goalkeeper’s contract with the club runs until June 2028, meaning potential negotiations could prove difficult.
