The Kazakhstan national team has encountered force majeure logistical difficulties on the eve of their Nations League clash with the Faroe Islands.

Details: Kazakhstan’s national team was due to arrive in the Faroe Islands on Thursday evening to prepare for Saturday’s encounter. However, due to the raging storm, all scheduled flights to Vágar, the archipelago’s only airport, were cancelled for the day, including flights operated by local carrier Atlantic Airways.

The transport chaos was caused by adverse weather conditions: gale-force winds, torrential rain and dense fog rendered the runway unsuitable for receiving aircraft. Although forecasters are predicting a slight improvement in the weather on Friday, the meteorological situation in the region remains difficult and unpredictable.

Kazakhstan are travelling to the away fixture on a charter flight. If the plane is unable to land by late Friday evening, the visitors risk arriving less than 24 hours before kick-off, putting their training schedule and the players’ full recovery ahead of this important clash in jeopardy.
