There have been rumors circulating recently suggesting that Barcelona could make a significant signing in the upcoming summer transfer window, especially in light of Kylian Mbappé's move to Real Madrid. The Catalans will need to compete with "Los Blancos," and one of the options mentioned was the signing of Erling Haaland.

The star striker from Manchester City could greatly improve the scoring prowess of the Spanish champions and help them reclaim the La Liga title, as Barcelona's chances of winning the top division in the current season seem rather slim.

However, these rumors were refuted by Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, who stated that there are no plans for major signings during the summer transfer window. His remarks were reported by the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo:

"We don’t need any big signing. There will be movements but I don’t anticipate big ones, just team players.

Our priority is to trust the team we have right now, we don’t want to sign players who could distort our harmony".

Currently, Barcelona has climbed to the second position in the Spanish La Liga table, overtaking Girona. They trail Real Madrid by eight points. Additionally, the Catalans have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain. For Mbappé, this will be an excellent opportunity to test his skills against Barcelona, as he will likely face at least two El Clásico matches in the next season.
