Wilfred Ndidi Slams Officiating After Beşiktaş Defeat to Fenerbahçe

Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has openly criticized the standard of officiating following Beşiktaş’s narrow loss to fierce Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe.

The closely contested derby at the Chobani Stadium on Sunday night was decided in dramatic fashion, with Fenerbahçe awarded a late penalty under controversial circumstances. Kerem Akturkoglu stepped up and converted from the spot in the final moments to hand the hosts all three points.

Ndidi did not hold back in his reaction after the match, taking to social media to question the decision-making process, particularly the role of VAR in the incident.

“How can you have VAR and decide not to check? I’m still trying to understand,” he wrote on Instagram.
