Manchester United is once again turning its gaze toward the Brazilian market—this time targeting Botafogo midfielder Danilo Santos.

Details: According to Brazilian newspaper O Dia, Manchester United has already initiated talks with Botafogo regarding a potential transfer for the 25-year-old midfielder. Arsenal is also reportedly interested, having previously reached out to the player's representatives.

Botafogo had hoped that Danilo's value would soar after the World Cup, setting his price at around £34 million. However, the Brazilian was handed just 44 minutes of playing time during the tournament and never made the starting lineup, which has dealt a serious blow to the club’s hopes of a major sale.

Financial pressure is also mounting on Botafogo: the club needs to make a significant sale this summer. That’s why Danilo could now be available for less than the original asking price.

The player has a backup option in Brazil as well. His former club Palmeiras remains interested and could step in if Manchester United and Arsenal fail to make a concrete offer.

It's worth noting that Danilo already has Premier League experience: in January 2023, Nottingham Forest signed him from Palmeiras for £16 million. Currently, Transfermarkt values the Botafogo midfielder at €32 million.

Reminder: Official: The end of Old Trafford? Where will Manchester United play?
