It took Casemiro just moments to sour Lionel Messi's mood.
Details: In the MLS clash against Columbus Crew, the Brazilian midfielder inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 34th minute, allowing the opponents to equalize at 1-1. Cameras immediately zoomed in on Messi, who was sitting on the bench—his expression said it all, showing just how much this moment stung the Argentine superstar.
This was Casemiro's first match for Inter Miami in front of the home fans. Messi himself stepped onto the pitch in the 53rd minute, making his first club appearance since the World Cup final.
Inter Miami regained the lead before halftime, but in the 84th minute, Brais Méndez rescued Columbus Crew from defeat. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Notably, this was Casemiro’s first own goal at club level since 2011, back when he played for São Paulo.
