Who will be Manchester United's next manager?

Manchester United's hierarchy is continuing to explore options for a major overhaul of the coaching staff amid mounting pressure on the team's current manager.

Details: According to TEAMtalk, Eddie Howe has emerged as the leading candidate on the club's shortlist in the event of Michael Carrick's dismissal, with his departure as head coach becoming increasingly likely.

The leading advocate for appointing the former Newcastle United boss is Manchester United technical director Jason Wilcox, who holds the coach's professional qualities in high regard. Should he move to Old Trafford, Howe is expected to bring his trusted assistants Jason Tindall and Stephen Purches with him, both ready to follow him in pursuit of a new challenge.

Although no final decision on Carrick's future has been officially made, the team's poor results are prompting the club's hierarchy to act proactively.

After eight Premier League matches, Manchester United have collected seven points and sit 16th, just one point clear of 18th-placed Nottingham Forest. In the Champions League, the Red Devils have earned three points, suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat to Como in the latest round.
