What Happens to the 2025 Campeón de Campeones If América Wins the Tetracampeonato? What Happens to the 2025 Campeón de Campeones If América Wins the Tetracampeonato?

With the 2025 Clausura final set between Toluca and América, Liga MX has announced how the Campeón de Campeones will be decided based on the outcome. According to an official league statement, there are two distinct scenarios depending on who lifts the trophy on May 25.

If América wins the final, completing a historic tetracampeonato, there will be no Campeón de Campeones match. Instead, the title will be awarded to them automatically for winning both the Apertura and Clausura of the 2024–2025 season. In that case, the league will organize a Supercopa MX, where América will face Cruz Azul — the team with the most points in the aggregate table.

However, if Toluca wins the Clausura, the Campeón de Campeones match will proceed as usual. Scheduled for July 20, the game will pit Toluca against América, the reigning Apertura 2024 champion.

América, led by André Jardine, has already won the 2024 Campeón de Campeones and the 2024 Supercopa. A fourth consecutive league title would be unprecedented in Mexican football and would reshape the post-season competition format.
