The Canadian Grand Prix turned out to be a dramatic affair for McLaren—a team that dominated the early part of the season suffered a major setback this time around.
Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris collided on lap 66 when Norris made an aggressive overtaking attempt. As a result, Lando was forced to retire from the race, costing the team valuable points.
British driver George Russell clinched his first victory of the season, taking the checkered flag in Montreal. Max Verstappen of Red Bull finished second, while Russell's teammate Kimi Antonelli secured his first career podium with a third-place finish.
The race ended under the safety car, and due to the McLaren drivers' collision, Verstappen was able to close the gap in the overall standings.
