What a twist: Ronaldo could have played in the Bundesliga in 2022
Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United for Saudi Arabia, where he now plays for Al Nassr. However, he had a chance to play in Germany.
Details: Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche revealed on BILD’s podcast that the club had the opportunity to sign Ronaldo in the summer of 2022.
Quote: “Axel Hellmann was in touch at the time. He came into my office and said: ‘We can sign Ronaldo,’” Krösche recalled.
Eintracht had even developed a financial plan for the transfer, but the sporting director admitted he never reviewed it, as he felt the move was unrealistic.
Quote: “I once spoke with Fabio Paratici, former Juventus manager, about how much Ronaldo changes a club and how you even need to book different hotels because of the attention he brings. Ronaldo would have been too big for Eintracht,” explained Krösche.
Reminder: Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr, as reported by journalist Nicolo Schira on social media. His new deal runs until the summer of 2026.
