What a screamer! Nicolas Pepe scores his first La Liga goal for Villarreal

The Ivorian striker has already made a big impression on the opening day of the Spanish league with a spectacular goal.

With Villarreal trailing 2-0 to Racing Santander this 16 August at the Estadio El Sardinero, things were looking bleak for the Spanish side. But Villarreal fought back quickly, thanks in particular to Pape Gueye and Nicolas Pepe.

Senegalese midfielder Pape Gueye first gave his side a lifeline by pulling one back in the 45th minute, bringing the score to 2-1. A minute later, Nicolas Pepe levelled the score for Villarreal. In the 45+1st minute, the Ivorian found the back of the net with a magnificent curling shot, allowing his team to draw level with Racing Santander at 2-2.

It has been a promising start to the season for Pape Gueye and Nicolas Pepe in La Liga. The Senegalese and Ivorian players have proven their ability to make a difference at crucial moments.
