What a gesture! Manchester United newcomer Dorgu convinces referee not to award penalty against Real Sociedad
Yesterday, Manchester United defeated Real Sociedad (4-1) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, scoring two goals from penalties. However, there could have been a third penalty kick against the Spaniards, but a Man United player convinced the referee otherwise.
Details: In the second half, Real Sociedad's experienced defender Amari Traore fouled Manchester United newcomer Patrick Dorgu, leading referee Benoit Bastien to award a penalty.
But Dorgu approached the referee and pointed out that Traore played the ball and suggested consulting VAR. As a result, the referee decided to verify the decision and canceled the penalty.
The team's head coach Ruben Amorim stated that he is proud of his player:
“It's good. I'm proud of Dorgu, but I don't know if I would have said the same if the score had been different. A good gesture on his part.”
Last month, Dorgu transferred to Manchester United from Lecce for 30 million euros. The young Dane has played 6 matches with his new club.
Reminder: Teammates epically pranked Bruno Fernandes after his hat-trick.
