West Ham players have rallied around their teammate Michail Antonio following a terrifying car accident that left him seriously injured, reports The Sun. Antonio crashed his car into a tree, leaving the vehicle totaled.

Before their match, the squad paid tribute to Antonio by warming up in shirts bearing his name and number 9. Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen, who scored in the game, dedicated their goals to the Jamaican forward. After the match, Soucek revealed that the team had a video call with Antonio before kickoff.

“We saw him before the game, we had a video call with him before the game. I was so happy, he smiled to us and he gave us all the best and so happy for him. I can't wait to visit him. He's a lovely guy,” Soucek told Sky Sports.

Antonio’s accident on Saturday resulted in severe damage to his car and a broken leg requiring surgery. The injury is expected to sideline him for a full year.

Antonio is West Ham’s fifth-highest scorer of all time, with 83 goals to his name. In the Premier League era, he stands alone as the club’s top scorer, with 68 goals—a record for the Hammers in the competition.

West Ham currently sits 14th in the Premier League standings, with 18 points earned so far this season.
